The overwhelming material on happiness

[emotional well-being] makes it too confusing to evaluate and too impractical to make  part of our everyday lives.  The critical proven elements can be condensed to the following  simple steps.

1.  Natural happiness results from altruistic  acts such as good deeds and compassion.[ 2 or more/ day]

2.   Believe you can change  the heritability of your  undesirable behaviors [ i.e. placebo effect]

3.  Understand that your major efforts on life circumstances have little effect on happiness [ i.e. 10%]

4.   Happiness  is intrinsic not extrinsic, giving trumps receiving.[ Volunteering and family beats getting]

5.   Live in the moment to avoid past worries and future fears. [ breath control turns off voice in the head]
